Casey Anthony’s father seriously injured in crash

ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – George Anthony, the father of the woman found not guilty of killing her daughter in Orlando several years ago, was seriously hurt in a crash on I-4 in Daytona Beach over the weekend.

A crash report says George Anthony was driving his wife Cynthia’s SUV west on I-4 near State Road 400 around 3 p.m. Saturday when it happened.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say the 67-year-old doesn’t remember what happened before the crash but veered onto the right shoulder of the road at some point for an unknown reason. The crash report says he then tried to swerve left to get back on the road but lost control.

According to the FHP, the SUV then rolled over several times before landing in the median. He was the only person in the SUV at the time.

The crash report lists Anthony’s injuries as “incapacitating.” He was flown to Halifax Medical Center to be treated. There is no word yet on his current condition.

George Anthony was put in the national spotlight nearly a decade ago when his daughter Casey was arrested in the disappearance and death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in Orlando. Casey was later found not guilty.
