Gradual warm up for the end of the week
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — 80s make a return to central Indiana starting Thursday.
Tonight:
Partly to mostly cloudy skies overnight. Still a low chance for a few isolated areas to see some patchy fog, but even less than what we saw Wednesday morning.
Overnight lows fall to around 60°
Thursday:
We’ll likely still have some clouds around for the southeastern portions of the state, but otherwise we should be in for a nice afternoon, with warmer temperatures across the board. Highs top out in the lower 80s.
Friday:
Similar day to Thursday. Some clouds, but for most it looks mainly sunny and warm. Highs hit the middle 80s.
Weekend forecast:
Beautiful weather on tap both days this weekend. Expect partly cloudy conditions with highs in the middle 80s.
Hurricane Florence:
Florence has weakened a bit as of the 2pm update. Now down to a Category 3 storm, with winds at 125 mph.
Just a slight chance of course in the forecast – now slated to hit along the southern portions of North Carolina on Friday – but impacts will be felt as early as Thursday morning for some.
Obviously high wind, along with high storm surge will be of the most immediate concern, however, flooding from several days of steady, heavy rain will be of the highest concern for much of the states of North and South Carolina. Some areas could pick up 30″ to as high as 40″ of rain – which could lead to catastrophic flooding in some areas. Evacuations are well under way. Read more about Hurricane Florence here.
8-day forecast:
As mentioned earlier, our pattern remains quiet through the end of the weekend. A few models are hinting at a few showers from Florence working into the area for Monday. Confedence in that playing out is pretty low, but it’s still worth a mention. Otherwise, quiet weather will be the theme for much of next week with temperatures falling back to the middle to upper 70s.
