Child dies after accident on south side of Indianapolis
UPDATE: The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the child hit as 4-year-old Brady Smith-Hughes. The coroner says that Hughes died after he was run over by a trailer.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A death investigation was underway Friday on the south side of Indianapolis, police say.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department believes the accident may have involved the child and a motor vehicle with an attached trailer.
IMPD officers just after 10:50 a.m. Friday responded to a report of a personal injury accident in the 8700 block of Meadowridge Lane. That’s in a residential area northeast of Railroad Road and County Line Road.
Officers located a child with trauma, a release said. The child was taken to an area hospital and later died from injuries.
Officers did not provide additional information about the incident.
