INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A call for “shots fired” turned into a double-murder investigation Thursday.
The deadly shooting happened on the 2900 block of Caroline Avenue, that’s near 30th Street and Keystone Avenue on the near-northeast side. Neighbors heard the shots just after 11 this morning. Officers arrived and found two men dead.
Since then, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has been processing the scene while family members and residents stand behind the crime-scene tape.
Police said that when they arrived, they found one man in the driveway and discovered the second man dead in the house. Both men were pronounced dead on the scene.
Distraught family members arrived at the scene, and officers and chaplains kept them at bay as police worked to process the evidence.
An IMPD spokesman, Patrol Officer Aaron Hamer said, “Homicide detectives are canvassing the area to see if anyone heard anything or a car peel off, or anything that possibly happens.”
Police stressed the importance of someone calling in with tips. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
