One arrested after man stabbed in the back at gym in Lawrence
LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — One person was reported stabbed at a gym in Lawrence.
Lawrence Police confirmed that the incident occurred at an LA Fitness in the 9000 block of Pendleton Pike just after 3 p.m.
Arrested in the incident was 22-year-old Bryan Fearman of Indianapolis. He faces a preliminary charge of attempted murder.
The victim was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition and is undergoing surgery.
Police said that Fearman entered the gym around 3 p.m., walked up to another man that was exercising and stabbed him in the back with a knife.
The suspect fled and was caught and arrested a block away.
LPD believe the incident was targeted and domestic.
Some area businesses went on lockdown as a precaution.
LA Fitness remained open.
According to online court records, Fearman was sentenced on July 6 for intimidation. He was sentenced to probation for the level 6 felony.
A violation notice was filed in Fearman’s case on July 13, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest.
Fearman also received probation after taking a guilty plea in 2012 for criminal recklessness. Battery charges were dismissed in that case.
