Indianapolis man gets 27 years in shooting death

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man has been sentenced for his role in a January shooting death.

23-year-old Stanley Jackson was sentenced to 27 years for his role in the death of Tevon Slater.

Slater was shot during a robbery on January 8.

Jackson took a plea deal in early June where murder charge and attempted murder charges were dropped.

He instead pleaded guilty to robbery resulting in serious bodily injury as well as being a habitual offender.

Jackson was sentenced to 20 years in the Indiana Department of Correction and seven-and-a-half years probation.

Co-defendent Devin Gilbert had charges against him dropped earlier in June.
