UIndy receives $5 million donation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A local civic leader and philanthropist donate $5 million to the University of Indianapolis and was honored at commencement.

Yvonne Shaheen is the vice chair for the university’s Board of Trustees. The university is renaming the College of Arts and Sciences into the Riad and Yvonne College of Arts and Sciences, honoring both her and her late husband.

“Yvonne Shaheen is a true pillar of this city and state, providing her personal energy, financial support and wise counsel to many efforts that enrich our community, and the university is grateful to be included among her priorities,” said UIndy President Robert Manuel.

The University of Indianapolis recognized Shaheen with an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree in 1996 and its Honorary Alumni award in 2013.
