Winter by the numbers: this year versus last

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – In light of recent arctic blasts, the Storm Track 8 Meteorologists have compiled a comparison of this winter’s weather versus this year’s.

  • Last winter: temperatures averaged 24.2 degrees, which made it the 8th coldest winter on record.
  • This winter: the average temperature is 27.6 degrees.
  • Last winter: at this time, we had a total of 51.9 inches of snow. We ended last winter with 52.2 inches of snow, which is now the record for the most winter snow in Indianapolis.
  • This winter: so far, Indianapolis has seen 9.0 inches of snow.

There are only nine days left in this year’s meteorological winter.
