IPS to present plans for 3 schools at deciding meeting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Public Schools have released their plan to take control of three former IPS schools that have been run as charter schools.
The State Board of Education will consider the options and make a decision during a meeting this Wednesday.
IPS leaders have three options for the future of Emma Donnan Middle School, Emmerich Manual High School and Thomas Carr Howe Community High School.
Leaders says the schools could return to IPS, allow Charter Schools USA to continue to operate them for another year in turnaround status, or close all three.
In December, the Indiana Charter Schools Board voted against the three schools being taken over by a Florida operator. None of the three options are set in stone.
IPS will also introduce three potential Innovation partners: Christel House, which would operate Manual; and Adelante Schools and Phalen Leadership Academies, which are options for Emma Donnan. Leadership from all three schools will attend and share their vision.
