YMCA of Greater Indianapolis suspends youth programs, adult sports leagues
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — YMCA locations around the Indianapolis area will be limiting or suspending a number of programs starting Saturday amid concerns of the spread of coronavirus, the nonprofit said Friday.
The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis operates 12 full centers and four program centers.
All youth programs scheduled through April 5 will be suspended and the age for unaccompanied children to visit YMCA facilities will be raised to 14.
Adult sports leagues and active older adult programs are also suspended through April 5, along with any chronic disease prevention programs that cannot be done virtually.
The “Play and Learn” child care program will continue for people with “Household” memberships and will be limited to 90 minutes. Group exercise classes will continue but limit the number of participants, and one-on-one programs will continue.
YMCA of Greater Indianapolis has suspended buying or using guest passes for people under 18 until April 5.
The Boys & Girls Club on Thursday closed all 10 of its locations and will remain closed until further notice.
