Indiana reports 3 new COVID-19 deaths, total of 7

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana State Department of Health officials on Sunday reported 75 more positive cases of the coronavirus in Indiana, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 201.

All but one of the positive cases are adults.

Seven Hoosiers have died after testing positive for COVID-19: three Marion County residents, a Johnson County resident, a Delaware County resident and a Scott County resident, according to health officials.

Additionally, 661 more people were tested Saturday for coronavirus, with 1,494 total Hoosiers having been tested thus far.

According to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, no Hoosiers have recovered from the virus.

Update 9:45 p.m.

Indiana has recorded its seventh COVID-19 death in Allen County.

The county’s health department based in Fort Wayne said the victim was an older adult who had been hospitalized as a COVID-19 patient and also had a history of chronic health issues. The department said no further information will be released about the patient or the case.

Update 8:49 p.m.

Allison Transmission said Sunday it has been notified that an employee has a presumed-positive case of COVID-19.

Update 6:48 p.m.

The indoor passenger waiting area at Bloomington Transit’s Downtown Transit Center will be closed to the public starting Monday and until further notice. Riders can continue to use the outdoor areas of the transit center.

Update 5 p.m.

Eli Lilly and Co. said Sunday it will begin on Monday to offer Indianapolis health care workers drive-through testing for the virus that causes COVID-19.

Only active health care workers are eligible. Their families are not eligible for the testing. The health care workers wanting to be tested must have a physician’s order requesting testing for COVID-19. There will be no charge for this service. It will run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday. Health care workers will call a phone number to register; if accepted for testing, they will received further information on the location of the testing.

The group eligible for testing includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists and allied health care professionals. More information on requirements for testing and registration instructions were posted online.

Update 3:29 p.m.

The Indiana State Department of Health reports another death from coronavirus in Marion County, the state’s sixth death.

The latest Marion County death is a person older than 50 with underlying medical conditions.

The death is the third in Marion County.

Update 12:50 p.m.

Health officials in Scott County announced Sunday afternoon that a resident has died due to COVID-19. The death marks the state’s fifth death due to coronavirus.

Officials with Scott County Health Department said the patient was in their 50s and had a pre-existing condition. The patient was self-quarantining at their home where they passed away early Sunday morning.

The patient’s identity has not been released.

ISDH previously reported one resident in Greene County had tested positive for COVID-19. As of Sunday’s official report online, Greene County has not reported any positive cases.
