ISDH: Indiana surpasses 10,000 COVID-19 cases, more than 500 total deaths

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana State Department of Health says there has been more than 10,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, resulting in 500 deaths.

ISDH says there are now 10,154 positive cases and 519 Hoosiers have died as a result of the virus. A total of 54,785 Hoosiers have been tested.

There are 642 new cases and 42 more deaths since Thursday’s ISDH update.

Officials in Indiana are not yet providing information on recoveries. Dr. Kris Box has said that information will be available as soon as medical codes are created that will offer COVID-19 recovery information, which the state does not currently have.

According to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, there have been more than 2,181,000 confirmed cases worldwide, with more than 554,000 recoveries and more than 147,000 deaths.
