Indiana National Guard releases timeline for new central Indiana flyover date

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — New details were released Wednesday about plans for the Air National Guard’s 122nd Fighter Wing to fly over Indianapolis and other central Indiana cities.

The flyover, which was tentatively scheduled for Thursday, has been rescheduled due to weather. Now, the flyover is set for Saturday, May 2.

The 122nd Fighter Wing is flying over the area to salute “the American heroes at the forefront in our fight against COVID-19.”

Indiana Air National Guard said Wednesday that Air Force Salutes flyovers are conducted at no additional cost to the taxpayer and serve as vital training for pilots.

The following schedule of times and locations is subject to change (times are listed in military time):

  • 1135 – Terre Haute, Ind. downtown
  • 1150 – Johnson Armory, near Franklin, Ind.
  • 1155 – Community hospital, 1500 N Ritter Ave. Indianapolis
  • 1157 – St. Vincent hospital, 13500 US Highway 31 N, Carmel, Ind.
  • 1200 – VA/IU hospital, 550 University Blvd. Indianapolis
  • 1202 – Lawrence Armory, near Lawrence, Ind.
  • 1205 – Anderson, Ind. downtown
  • 1208 – Muncie, Ind. downtown
  • 1215 – Marion VA hospital, 1700 E 38th St. Marion, Ind.

According to Lawrence Fire Department, the Blue Angels were scheduled to fly over the city on Wednesday.

Inquiries from News 8 to confirm the status of plans regarding Blue Angels were not returned.
