Indy Chamber unveils new employment program
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce announced a new initiative to connect employers and job seekers as unemployment continues to rise during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s a web-based service called Rapid Response Talent in cooperation with EmployIndy and Ascend Indiana. Employers, recruiters and employment opportunities can see the profiles and skills of local people looking for work, according to a statement from the Indy Chamber.
“As the weeks go by, the topics of conversations we’ve held with businesses impacted by COVID-19 have evolved,” said Indy Chamber President and CEO Michael Huber in a published statement. “Phase one was all about health, safety, and business model changes. Phase two has been focused on financial assistance, and we anticipate the next wave will center on human capital. This new platform leverages the expansive Indy Chamber network of employers to fast-track job search to employment in the face of this unprecedented time.”
Those looking for a job are asked to visit the website, fill out a page of contact information and fill out a 5-minute form outlining job functions and skills that will be searchable by employers. Applicants who are students or recent graduates will be linked to other more targeted programs already in place. Once an application is submitted, that person will be contacted by Indy Chamber and hopefully by hiring businesses.
Employers can use the tool as well both to search for talent and obtain information and assistance as they restart their business. There are sections about the paycheck protection program, help with loans, other employment opportunities and an FAQ section covering things like the stay at home order, how to get personal protective equipment for your business and employee resources like childcare.
The service is hosted by the Indy Chamber of Commerce but covers employment opportunities outside of Indianapolis and Marion County.
