Police in Kokomo investigating teen’s shooting death

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Kokomo are investigating a teenager’s shooting death.

According to the Kokomo Police Department, officers initially responded to a Village Pantry in the 900 block of West Jefferson Street for a shooting behind the business just before 12:30 p.m.

After arriving on scene, 17-year-old Lemarcus McGraw was discovered on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Police said McGraw later died as a result of his injuries.

A suspect in the fatal shooting, 21-year-old Kaliel Rucker, was located a block away.  Police said Rucker was in possession of a handgun and admitted to shooting McGraw.

Investigators also found another handgun at the shooting scene.

Rucker was taken into custody and faces preliminary charges for murder, possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana.  A 15-year-old who was also taken into custody and faces preliminary charges for attempted robbery, possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana.

It is believe the deadly shooting is the result of drug deal that went bad.
