INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis Library board members have approved the purchase of nearly six acres of land on the city’s northeast side to build a new Glendale Branch. Board members say the East 62nd Street location will offer more access to patrons and finally will give the branch a stand-alone building, after being located in the Glendale Shopping Center.

The board is working with krM Architecture+ to design and build the facility. The library is working on ways to get public input about services to be offered at the new branch, including offering an online survey available till Oct. 20, the ability to register for a public input meeting to be held on Sept. 17 and Oct. 7 and for patrons to stop by the Glendale Branch to comment on the priorities for the new branch.

The library is expected to be about 25,000 square feet, with construction tentatively set for fall of 2021 and completion by the end of 2022.
