INside story: ‘Thanksgiving Hot Spots’ kicks off with Kountry Kitchen Soul Food Place

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — If you need someone’s help preparing the ultimate Thanksgiving meal, the people at Kountry Kitchen Soul Food Place have one question for you — “How many are you feeding?”

From the classic turkey and dressing to macaroni and cheese along with some popular pies and cakes, they believe that they’ve got you and your family covered.

Even though they do soul food year-round, they’ve made a special effort over the last decade to make Thanksgiving packages for people all over the city. Kountry Kitchen co-owner Cynthia Wilson says it’s partly because the holiday has a special place in her heart.

“Thanksgiving is actually my favorite meal,” Wilson said. “Of course there’s going to be more love and so everything’s going to be cooked to perfection.”

Their Thanksgiving meals have gotten so popular in Indianapolis that Wilson says people start ordering them starting in early October.

There’s one person that is always on the other end of the phone when a customer places an order — Catering Director Pat Vandoren, also known as “Miss Pat.”

“Most people that have done business with us over the years have my cell number,” she said. “I work 24/7 because when I leave here, it doesn’t stop.”

However, like the quality of the food, she takes pride in being the city’s contact for Kountry Kitchen catering. Over the last 10 years, she’s helped serve individuals, families and even companies of more than 250 people on Thanksgiving.

Miss Pat says what she enjoys the most is being confident that people who try their food will be back and bring others.

Kountry Kitchen is accepting Thanksgiving orders until Nov. 19. You can view the holiday menu and order online here or call and ask to speak to Miss Pat.
