Early morning crash sends fire hydrant into house

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An early morning accident sent a fire hydrant through a town home.

The incident occurred near 38th and Michigan after a vehicle ran a red light.

According to police, the driver was traveling too fast for conditions. The car, traveling along on the wet road, ended up on the sidewalk and then proceeded to hit a fire hydrant.

The fire hydrant then ended up going through the wall of a town home in the area.

Luckily, no one was at home during the time of incident.

The car continued through a small parking lot where it eventually hit another curb that sent the vehicle into a tree.  The vehicle finally came to a stop on its side.

The incident ended in the 3100 block of Armory Drive.

Police say the driver, David Allen, was driving with a suspended license and expired plates.

Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the wreck.
