2 killed in Bartholomew County crash

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Two people are dead after a crash in Bartholomew County Tuesday afternoon, according to the Indiana State Police.

ISP troopers responded to U.S. 31 near County Road 900 South around 2 p.m. for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Police say that a 1999 Mercury Sable vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Kelsey Lamaster, was traveling southbound on U.S. 31 when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the west side of the road.

It then came back on the road, crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2004 Ford F-250 driven by 59-year-old Paul Luedeman.

Following the collision, both vehicles exited the road on the east side and finally came to a stop.

Police say Lamaster and a front seat passenger in the Sable, 24-year-old Brandon Freeman, both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene.

Luedeman was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The deadly crash remains under investigation.
