1 dead, 1 injured following drive-by shooting on west side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person is dead and another is injured following a shooting on the city’s west side.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after two men were shot in the 5700 block of Port Au Prince Street. That’s in the Addison Creek on Rockville apartments near I-465 and Rockville Road.
Police were called just after 2:30 p.m. They arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. An emergency medical services pronounced the man dead on the scene.
Shortly after, a second man with a gunshot wound to the shoulder was found. Police said that man was stable when taken to area hospital.
IMPD says two men were outside an apartment building and walking together. Police said a passenger in a vehicle fired shots at the men.
Ages of the victims and the name of the man taken to the hospital were not immediately released by police. The name of the victim will be released by the coroner once family has been notified.
No information has been released about a suspect or suspect vehicle.
