Carmel police arrest 17-year-old boy with gun outside learning center

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — A 17-year-old student found at Carmel Learning Center with a handgun has been arrested, Carmel Police Department said Tuesday. 

Lt. Joe Bickel said the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carmel Learning Center, 515 E. Main St. That’s across the street from Carmel High School.

Police said they received a tip about the student possessing the loaded handgun, went to the center, located the boy and confiscated the firearm. 

The boy, who was not named in the release, was taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center in Noblesville. He faces charges of possession of firearms on school property, theft and carrying a handgun without a license.
