Bishop Chatard school reports threats, calls for e-learning day

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Social media threats to Bishop Chatard High School has led administrators to keep students away from the campus Tuesday, according to an email from the principal.

The email said Tuesday will be an e-learning day at the school. The north-side school is off Kessler Boulevard East Drive a few blocks west of Keystone Avenue.

Principal Joe Hansen said in an email that Vince Lorenzano, the director of safety for the Catholic school, has contacted Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and made it aware of threatening videos and social media posts.

Lorenzano “has also informed the IMPD of the name of the person behind them. He continues to monitor the situation closely and keep our leadership team informed of any changes to the situation,” the principal’s email said. “The IMPD is making every effort to contact the person who made the videos and social media posts.”

In addition Tuesday, the campus will have a police presence.

“More information about practices and after-school activities will be provided on Tuesday as soon as it is available,” the principal’s email said.
