IMPD: Person killed in west side shooting
Update: The man shot and killed in the 300 block of Meganwood Court has been identified as 36-year-old Kenneth Butler, according to the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man is dead after a shooting on the city’s west side, police say. Investigators have not shared the man’s identity as of Sunday morning.
At 11:09 p.m. Saturday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in the 300 block of Meganwood Court. That is a residential area near the town of Avon.
When officers arrived, they located a man laying immediately outside the back door of a house with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators say that the person responsible for the shooting was identified and cooperated with police. They weren’t taken into custody. According to police, the man who was shot did not live inside the home.
Officers say that there were multiple people inside the home when the incident occurred, but none of them were injuries.
