8 apartments damaged in blaze, forcing tenants out

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Tenants were forced to evacuate after an apartment fire late Monday night.

Multiple fire agencies were called to the 3200 block of Heather Ridge Drive around 11:50 p.m.

Fire officials say the fire started in a bedroom of one family’s apartment on the second floor of the Heather Ridge Apartment complex.

The fire was stopped quickly but there was a lot of smoke.

No one was injured in the blaze and only a dog had to be rescued.

The Wayne Fire Department chief says eight units were damaged, two from the fire and the rest from the smoke and water.

Tenants from six units will be displaced, two of the units were unoccupied.
