8 things to know about Ashley Brown

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — News 8 officially welcomed Ashley Brown as our new Chief Meteorologist earlier this month. Here’s 8 fun facts about Ashley.

She’s a native Hoosier

Ashley graduated from North Central High School before attending Ball State University.

Ashley’s first job was at the McDonald’s at 21st Street and Shadeland Avenue. She was just 14 years old!

Ashley was actually in radio before working in television. She was a radio personality with Radio One.

“CoCo Brown was my radio name,” Ashley says.

Ashley loves interior design. When she’s not on TV, she’s watching interior design TV shows.

Ashley says she’s just learning to cook.

“I can only make four or five dishes well,” Ashley said.

The first time Ashley moved away from home was to take a forecasting job in California.

“I lived in California for seven years, I loved forecasting in southern California,” Ashley says.

She came back in 2012 and said she actually missed the snow!

“I’m currently engaged and planning a wedding,” Ashley says.

Prior to coming back home to join News 8, Ashley was working in Cincinnati, but was often making trips back home.

“I split my time between Indy and Cincy so I could spend time with my three-year-old nephew and my fiancé,” Ashley says.

She decided to leave that job to spend more time with family here in Indy.

“I’m a Christian, so I had faith that it would all work out!” Ashley says.

Ashley said she’s wanted to be a forecaster since she was just a kid.

“My love of weather began with a Polaroid camera in the fifth grade,” Ashley said. “I took pics of clouds in my neighborhood.”
