It’s the most iconic month of the year, as the world prepares for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” the Indianapolis 500.

The city oozes excitement this time of year! Folks prepare their homes, yards, and porches with race inspired decorations, welcoming visitors near and far.

How can Hoosiers incorporate the Spirit of the Indianapolis 500, Love of the Racetrack, and Speedway Indiana into their home without using the cliche checkered flag? 

Think of the what elements make the Indianapolis Motor Speedway so special: The field of bricks, the chain link fence drivers climb, the towering pagoda, and so many more. Now Translate that into your decor!

Danielle Myers, ASID, RID, Proprietor, Elle Designs, shares how she helped IndyCar Driver Colton Herta and Al Unser, Jr., Executive Consultant, Harding Steinbrenner Racing, re-decorate their homes with some race-inspired decor!

What did Danielle do? Here’s a quick “snippet:” 

*Install Finishes Reminiscent of Textures at the Track: Cover an interior wall with Faux Brick, or Use Galvenized Metal for a Backsplash

*Get Creative with Elements of the Race: Create a Table using Tires for the Base and a Glass Top, or Have a Chair made out of Seat Belt Straps

*Use Artwork composed of Traditional Language Heard at the Track: Gentlemen Start Your Engines, or Back Home Again in Indiana 

*Add Elements of Black and White: Buffalo Check Printed Pillows or Furniture, Mosaic Tiles, or Chargers for your Tablescape
