K1 Speed invites families for indoor go-kart racing
FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — On days with inclement weather in central Indiana, people are invited to join in on an indoor entertainment experience for all ages in Fishers.
K1 Speed: Indoor Kart Racing, an entertainment center that started in Carlsbad, California, has one of their 42 locations in Fishers.
Unlike their competition in kart racing around the nation, they use all-electric karts, which they say are faster, quieter and easier to drive than their gas-powered rivals, and non-polluting as well. The experience also includes food, arcade games, massage chairs and more for racing fans to enjoy even if they don’t want to burn some rubber on the track.
David Royce, general manager at the Fishers location, doesn’t just run the center. He teaches lessons there as well.
“It’s a lot of fun for a new racer or even for somebody who races every day,” he said.
He talks about why he believes people here in the “racing capital of the world” are fans of the experience they get at K1 Speed.
“It’s the need for speed,” Royce said. “People come in here and [they] want to go fast and we give you the tools to do it.”
All Indiana’s Randall Newsome talked with an up-and-coming teen racer who gets his racing skills sharpened at K1 Speed. Watch this Facebook Live to see why.
The racing experience at K1 Speed is open to adults or kids 48 inches and taller. The center also offers a deal called “Arrive & Drive” where you can show up, pay your fee to get in and hit the track. Prices to race start at $22. If you want to enjoy the experience in a group of eight or more, you have to make a group reservation.
