Autopsy shows man found dead in Hancock County was shot

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A man’s body was found on the side of the road in rural Hancock County Tuesday evening, according to the sheriff.

The body of Shannon Kitchens, 55, of McCordsville, was found in the 3300 block of West 500 North, a few miles east of Indianapolis Regional Airport, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The sheriff called the death “suspicious.”

Authorities say an autopsy determined that Kitchens was shot. They say while the investigation is ongoing, investigators don’t feel there is an immediate threat to the community.
