Back the Blue campaign raises $27K for local law enforcement

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A steady flow of people crowded around Georgia Street on Thursday afternoon. IMPD held its annual Community Day, which gives residents A chance to interact with officers while enjoying free food and music.

The crowd had the opportunity to purchase Back the Blue merchandise. The shirts show support for IMPD. Indy Public Safety Foundation created the shirts, which sell for $20 each.

“We have to support them, maybe some guys made some mistakes, but the vast majority are good guys,” said Indianapolis resident Brent Walters.

The foundation has already raised more than $27,000. The money goes to the Indy Public Safety Foundation to help officers, and the goal is to hit $50,000.
