Beer-loving centenarian gets free case from brewery

PENNSYLVANIA (CNN) – A 100-year-old woman who became an Internet star because of her love for beer got some of her favorite beverage, for free.

Pauline Spagnola’s 100th birthday party was featured on a newscast in Pennsylvania last week. She told a reporter that the secret to a long life, came from “a lot of booze.”

People on social media shared the clip, and Pauline became an online sensation.

During the party, she said a local brewery made her favorite beer. So, the company gave her a case.

Pauline says she can still remember the first time she tried it.

“I had to sneak it,” she remembers. “My parents wouldn’t allow me to drink at 14!”

Pauline lives in a nursing home. Workers say there are no restrictions on beer for residents, as long as it doesn’t cause any medical issues.

Pauline says she’s not going to drink all the free beer herself. She says she’ll share it with friends.
