Blood drive for World Blood Day

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Dozens of Hoosiers gave the gift of life on Monday.

In recognition of World Blood Day, the Indiana Blood Center held a blood drive to encourage donations.

Almost 1,000 people stopped by the three hour event on Monument Circle.

“Today we just wanted to give donors a chance to have some free pizza. See Pacers and Colts cheerleaders and their mascots. It gave us a chance to say thank you,” said Andrea Fagan, with the Indiana Blood Center.

Organizers said a total of 30 people donated 30 pints of blood.
