Hostess expands recall of Raspberry Zingers
(WISH) — Hostess Brands, which operates a bakery in Indianapolis, has expanded its voluntary recall of certain Raspberry Zingers because the product may develop mold prior to the “best by” date.
An announcement from the company said Raspberry Zingers — artificially flavored cakes with a creamy filling and covered in a mixture of shaved coconut and raspberry-flavored syrup — were sold in groceries, mass merchandisers, dollar and discount stores and other retail locations across the United States. The cakes are individually wrapped.
The recall affects Raspberry Zingers with specific produce codes, batch numbers and “best by” dates. The Raspberry Zingers were sold in fresh and frozen multipacks, single cakes, and three-count containers. Buyers of the cakes are encouraged to contact the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact 800-483-7253 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CDT weekdays.
The recall does not affect other Hostess Brands products. Zingers are also sold in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavors that have cake and filling covered with an icing.
Hostess Brands LLC is headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas, and operates bakeries in Emporia, Kansas; Chicago; Columbus, Georgia; and Indianapolis.
