Clouds, wind and rain to start the workweek

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — If you’re heading out Sunday evening, temperatures will stay steady and slowly rise after midnight.

After a mostly sunny day, clouds will begin to increase Sunday ahead of our next storm system.

Monday morning temperatures will be close to freezing and skies will be mostly cloudy. Snow is possible in the northern part of the state, but central Indiana will stay dry to start.

Rain is expected to move into the area by the middle part of the day. Precipitation will become snow later in the afternoon and evening. About an inch of accumulation is possible.

Highs Monday will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s for southern Indiana.

It’s going to be very windy during the day Monday. Wind gusts may approach 20-30 mph.

Once the precipitation ends, colder air begins to move into the Great Lakes. The bitter cold air will stick around for a few days, but the coldest day looks like it will be Wednesday.

Highs will be in the single digits, while areas north of Indianapolis may not see highs above zero.

Feels-like temperatures will be dangerously low, ranging from 10 to as cold as 30 degrees below zero in many spots.

The cold air will stick around through Thursday.

Temperatures will rise late in the week, and by the weekend we’ll see readings back to normal with highs in the 30s.
