Columbus water rescue leads to drug arrest

A Thursday morning water rescue in Columbus ended with a woman’s arrest.

According to the Columbus Police Department, officers responded to the 400 block of Jonesville Road for a water rescue just before 12:30 a.m.

Police say 29-year-old Andrea Bush drove her Toyota car around a barricade and road closure signs when the vehicle began to stall and she became stranded. 

The water covered the vehicle’s entire hood at one point.

Officers were able to successfully rescue Bush from the floodwater. However, it was determined that Bush did not possess a driver’s license.

Additionally, marijuana, cocaine and several prescription pills and drug paraphernalia were found in her possession.

Bush was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.

She faces a number of preliminary charges including:

  • possession of cocaine 
  • possession of a legend drug 
  • possession of a controlled substance 
  • possession of marijuana 
  • operating a vehicle without a license 
  • possession of drug araphernalia

Bush was also cited for disregarding a traffic control device/sign.
