Cool weekend with showers returning Sunday
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Near record-setting cool temperatures will bring a chill this weekend, with showers and storms returning on Sunday.
Saturday:
A clear sky should help warm us up quickly after near record-setting cold temperatures Saturday morning. There is not much in the way of cloud cover until later Saturday night. Highs will run a good 15° below average Saturday afternoon, with highs only in the mid 50s.
Saturday Night:
There will be a slight increase in cloud cover through the overnight. Temperatures will be cool, but should be warm enough to avoid any frost threat. Lows will fall to the upper 30s and lower 40s.
Sunday:
An upper level system moving through will spark showers, and even a few thunderstorms across the area late morning into the afternoon.
There is a marginal risk for severe storms, with the primary concern with damaging straight line winds and large hail.
Highs will top out in the middle to upper 50s.
8-Day Forecast:
Temperatures will remain on the cool side for the first half of the week, but gradually warm up to at least the 60s by Wednesday. Pattern flip will allow for near/above normal temperatures starting Thursday, with another round of showers and storms possible Thursday and Friday.
