30 Greek houses at IU told to quarantine

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Thirty Greek houses at Indiana University in Bloomington have been told to quarantine. That’s up from eight houses that were originally told to quarantine last week due to an “alarming increase of positive (COVID-19) tests,” according to university officials.

Tuesday, the list of eight houses increased to 14 facilities.

A list of Greek chapters directed to quarantine was posted on the university’s Division of Student Affairs website where COVID-19 updates for the university community are made available.

Those houses include:

  • Alpha Epsilon Pi
  • Alpha Gamma Delta
  • Alpha Omicron Pi
  • Alpha Phi
  • Alpha Sigma Phi
  • Alpha Xi Delta
  • Beta Sigma Psi
  • Beta Theta Pi
  • Chi Omega
  • Delta Gamma
  • Delta Zeta
  • Gamma Phi Beta
  • Kappa Alpha Theta
  • Kappa Delta
  • Kappa Kappa Gamma
  • Phi Delta Theta
  • Phi Gamma Delta
  • Phi Kappa Psi
  • Pi Beta Phi
  • Pi Kappa Phi
  • Phi Sigma Kappa
  • Sigma Alpha Epsilon
  • Sigma Chi

IU spokesperson Chuck Carney said 2,600 students live in IU’s 42 Greek houses, but he didn’t know how many students have been told to quarantine since each house allows a different amount of residents.
