Corvette show takes over IMS
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Some call it the nation’s most prestigious and longest running all-Corvette car show and it’s at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time ever.
The Bloomington Gold Corvettes USA Show will be in Indy through Saturday. Gates open Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. and when fans come in they’ll be treated to a one of a kind Chevy experience.
Visitors can actually buy new or used Corvettes. Plus there are more than 200 Corvette-specialty vendors at the event.
Here’s what’s going on here at the track Friday: If you have a Corvette, you can take it around the track a few times. You just have to sign up at the track office. Also the first ever “Burnout Competition” starts at 3:15 p.m. on the pit road, with a prize of $300 paid to the winner of the best burnout. Then at 7 p.m., more than 1,000 Corvettes are scheduled to drive through Indianapolis for “The Corvettes on the Circle” event.
The big event of the weekend is on Saturday. All the Corvettes you can imagine are getting together for a World Record try, at 6 p.m. at IMS.
Bloomington Gold’s tour will look to break its own record of 2,223 Corvettes on the IMS oval. If you want to get in on this record breaking lap, the cost is $10 per Corvette and advance registration is encouraged.
