18-year-old man ID’d in 1st Lawrence homicide in 2020

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Police have identified an 18-year-old who died Friday night after being found shot in a car at a Lawrence gas station.

Shortly after 5:40 p.m., police were called to a person shot at the BP gas station at East 46th Street and North Shadeland Avenue.

Daeon Harrison, of Indianapolis, was in a car that veered to the west off northbound Shadeland Avenue near 24th Street and went over a median. The car came to rest at the gas station. Witnesses who went to check on Harrison found he had been shot at least once, according to Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff of Lawrence Police Department.

Harrison was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital but did not survive his injuries.

Police on Saturday continued to investigation the circumstances leading up to Harrison’s death. No suspect information was available.

Harrison’s death is the first homicide in Lawrence in 2020.
