Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley would not comment on if the bodies are the two girls, 14-year-old Libby German and 13-year-old Abby Williams, but said the search “has been scaled back.” Riley said investigators were still out in the area.

Investigators would not say who found the bodies, which occurred around 12:15 Tuesday afternoon. He said foul play is suspected due to how the bodies were found. They were found on the edge of the water, Riley said.

Riley said it was too early into the investigation to speak about possible suspects.

“We don’t really want to put out too much information at this point in time,” Riley said.

Riley said the bodies were found near Deer Creek about a three-quarters mile east of Delphi. He said it is a crime scene and foul play suspected.

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby says the girls were last seen Monday afternoon. He said German and Williams were dropped off near the Monon High Bridge Trail near Delphi, but when a family member came to pick them up they weren’t there.

Investigators thanks the community for their help in the case.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency on the case. The Delphi Police Department and Indiana State Police are assisting. Crime scene investigators with the FBI are also on the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
