Faith leaders meet to discuss way to help local troubled youth

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Local faith leaders are working together to find ways to help troubled youth in our communities.

The group met Friday morning at Northview Church in Carmel.

Dr. John Townsend, a New York Times bestselling author, also joined the leaders.

He wrote a book recently called “The Entitlement Cure.” That was his main focus at the meeting.

“What we found out is children aren’t given the opportunity to fail in safe ways so they learn to grow,” Townsend said. “So what happens is they being to believe, ‘gosh I don’t have to do stuff to get trophies and this sort of thing.’ And then the aspect of rolling up our sleeves, facing problems, facing challenges goes away. So our culture has begun to change that way.”

Dr. Townsend also shared with the group ways pastors, parents, teachers and counselors can help address the issue of entitlement in our youth.
