Hancock County officials debate control of new $18M fairgrounds
HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — 4-H leaders in Hancock County are trying to decide who gets to control the proposed $18 million project for a brand new fairgrounds.
According to 24-Hour News 8 partner The Greenfield Daily Reporter, the plans are to lease a county-owned site along US 40 just east of Greenfield.
The county would pay $12 million and the other $6 million will be raised by 4-H.
The report says a county commissioner argues elected officials have to keep oversight of taxpayer money.
The association’s president say it is focused on creating a quality fairgrounds without burdening tax payers.
