Haughville to hold special neighborhood reunion
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A reunion will be held this weekend to bring people together on the city’s west side.
The reunion will take place Labor Day weekend at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church located at 1301 North Goodlet in the Haughville neighborhood.
Some of the organizers of the event have lived in Haughville since the 1950s. Their goal is to bring people together and to show younger residents what the neighborhood means to them.
Friday night there will be a fish fry. And at dusk, they will hold a candlelight vigil to remember those from Haughville who have died.
Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., they will hold a family day that will include activities like hopscotch, hula hooping and volleyball.
They also plan to honor people from Haughville who have lived there the longest and to recognize those who have gone on to achieve success.
