Honda to move Accord production to Indiana from Ohio

MARYSVILLE, Ohio (WISH) — Honda says it’ll move the production of its Accord model from Marysville, Ohio, to its Greensburg, Indiana, plant.

The model’s popularity fell in 2022 to more than 154,000 cars, down from 202,676 Accords sold in 2021, according to industry figures. Honda sold its highest annual total of Accords, 388,435, in 2014. Honda in 2019 announced Accord production was being slowed as more car buyers favored SUVs and trucks.

The Accord move comes as Honda makes the Marysville plant its first to be retooled for electric vehicle production, the company said Tuesday. The move was one of several announced to make way for EV production.

The move of Accord production to Indiana will happen in 2025.

Honda in October announced it’ll invest $700 million to retool several plants for EV vehicles. Honda first began production in the United States in 1982 at the Marysville plant.

The Greensburg facility is one of two Honda plants globally making the Civic Hatchback, which premiered in 2022. Honda says the Indiana facility, which opened in October 2008, is one of five Honda auto plants in the U.S.
