I-69 traffic stop becomes large marijuana bust
DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A deputy from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle on Interstate 69 and ended up netting several pounds of marijuana.
Deputy Nicholas Grate stopped a vehicle near mile marker 329 in Auburn around 8 p.m. Sunday, according to a police report.
During the stop, Grate conducted a search of the vehicle and found 14.5 pounds of marijuana, paraphernalia and cash.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested on several charges.
18-year-old Colt Malott of Broadview Heights, Ohio, was driving the vehicle. He faces initial charges of dealing in marijuana greater than ten pounds, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Kathryn Pogue, 20, also of Broadview Heights, Ohio, was the passenger in the vehicle and is facing initial charges of dealing in marijuana greater than ten pounds and possession of marijuana.
Additional information was not available from the sheriff’s department, including why the vehicle was initially pulled over.
The incident is still under investigation.
