IMPD names suspect shot in officer-involved shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials have named the man who was shot by police this weekend.
He has been identified as 37-year old Ivan Deida of Indianapolis.
Police were called to a home on North Hamilton Avenue early Sunday morning after neighbors reported seeing a man trying to break into a duplex. Police say shots and screams were heard from inside the house. A victim, believed to be Deida’s ex-girlfriend, was shot in the face. She was later listed in stable condition.
Police say Deida exited the home holding a firearm and was then struck by police. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The officers involved will be placed on administrative leave, officials say, as is standard procedure in such cases.
