Indiana man arrested in armed robbery of McDonald’s
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Allen County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 21-year-old man a “short time” after being called out to a hold-up of a southwest-side McDonald’s.
Police were called just after 11 p.m. Tuesday to the McDonald’s at 10310 Illinois Road for a reported armed robbery. According to a police report, the suspect entered the restaurant armed with some type of handgun and wearing a mask. He then grabbed an employee’s cell phone and ran off without taking any money, the report said.
The man was identified as 21-year-old Lawrence Hill. Police did not say how they were able to identify him.
Police found Hill a short time later at his home, a quarter-mile from the restaurant in the 500 block of Red Bluff Drive. He was taken to Allen County Lockup on preliminary charges of robbery and battery.
Police said nobody was seriously hurt in the incident. The restaurant closed at 11 p.m., but it’s unclear if the robbery happened before closing time.
The case remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
