1 dead, 2 seriously injured after vehicle collides with train in Scott County
AUSTIN, Ind. (WISH) — Indiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a train in Scott County.
The crash happened in Austin shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday in the area of County Road 450 North and US 31. That’s in southern Scott County.
Police say a 2005 Nissan car was traveling westbound on C.R. 450 when it collided with a northbound CSX train. Two adult females and a girl were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Stephanie Trabue, 22, of Scottsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. Trabue was the driver of the Nissan. The two passengers were airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. No other details have been released.
