Indiana State Police trooper faces 3 arson charges
TELL CITY, Ind. (WISH) — An Indiana State Police trooper was arrested on arson charges Tuesday in southern Indiana, police said.
Indiana State Police said members of the Tell City Fire Department responded about 1:45 a.m. Oct. 13 to a report of a house fire in the 1200 block of Main Street. Police said the home belonged to Jeremy Galloway, 44, a state police trooper.
Crews arrived to find two structures on fire: a home and an outbuilding. The home sustained heavy damage. The outbuilding was destroyed. A Tell City Fire Department investigation found arson as the cause.
Galloway was arrested on two counts of arson, a count of insurance fraud and a count of arson with intent to defraud.
Galloway was taken into custody Tuesday and later to the Perry County Jail. He had been given a general release from the jail Tuesday night, online records show. No court date has been set, according to online records.
The state police placed him on administrative leave without pay.
