Indiana now monitors available parking for truckers

GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – The Indiana Department of Transportation on Friday announced a program designed to make interstate travel safer. 

The “Trucks Park Here” system will create a network of safe and convenience parking areas for truckers. 

INDOT could collect and share parking availability options with drivers through message signs, smartphone apps and traveler information websites.

INDOT will feature 19 parking areas along Interstates 65, 69 and 70. 

The transportation department said truckers who use the system can monitor parking availability as they near the limit of their federally mandated hours of service.
