Indianapolis Public Library Board trustee resigns

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Former Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees member Curtis Bigsbee resigned from his position Tuesday.

Bigsbee says his resignation comes from moving out of Marion County, leaving him legally unable to hold the seat.

This announcement comes as some in the community call for board members to resign due to the fall out from the search for a library chief executive officer.

City-County Councilors confirmed the appointment of former IPS and Washington superintendent Eugene White. He is expected to fill one of the vacant spots, leaving one seat on the board open.

According to a statement from the library, Bisgsbee said that he “hopes commissioners will find an appropriate new member … dedicated to the purpose of IndyPL’s Strategic Plan.”

Bigsbee also hoped that this new member will not “be intimidated by a few voices that seem to overpower the silent majority.”
